MMDA: Heavy traffic expected at Sta. Mesa Saturday on PUP entrance exam day


Motorists passing through the Sta. Mesa area in Manila may have to take alternate routes on Saturday because of heavy traffic volume as the Polytechnic University of the Philippines administers its entrance exams.
 
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said it expects heavy traffic in the area on Saturday with about 22,000 taking the exam from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
 
"PUP, the largest state university, will hold its first batch of entrance examination for high school graduating students on January 25, Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. About 22,000 students will take part in the first wave of exam," it said.
 
It added the second batch will take the entrance exam on Feb. 15.
 
"Expect heavy traffic in Sta. Mesa area. Please take alternate routes," the MMDA said.
 
Meanwhile, the PUP said classes at Main Building of the PUP A. Mabini Campus in Sta. Mesa are suspended on Jan. 25 due to the exam.
 
But it said there will be classes in the Open University, Graduate School, College of Law, College of Engineering, College of Architecture and Fine Arts, College of Communication, Institute of Technology and College of Tourism, Hospitality and Transportation Management on that day.  — ELR, GMA News
