MMDA: Traffic on Roxas Blvd southbound near Luneta rerouted for intl road race


Motorists were advised Tuesday to avoid a part of Roxas Boulevard In Manila in the coming days because of rerouting done to make way for an international fuel efficiency road race.
 
The event will affect a part of the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard near Luneta, radio dzBB reported.
 
State-run Philippine Information Agency said from Feb. 2 to 5 and Feb. 10 to 12 from midnight to 4 a.m., motorists going to Port Area should turn right to T.M. Kalaw then left to Maria Orosa then left to P. Burgos (or via Intramuros) and then right to Bonifacio Drive.
 
Motorists going to the Pasay City area should turn left to P. Burgos then right to Maria Orosa then right to T.M. Kalaw and then left to Roxas Boulevard from February 2 to 12, the PIA added.
 
Also on Tuesday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority issued an advisory urging motorists to take alternate routes, which include the streets of P. Burgos, Ma. Orosa, and T.M. Kalaw.
 
The road race that prompted the rerouting is the fifth annual Shell Eco-marathon Asia, wherein at least 150 student teams from 16 countries across Asia and the Middle East will put their energy-efficient vehicles to the test in a mileage competition.
 
"Taking the challenge to the streets of Manila will demonstrate how new technology can work in the heart of real cities," Shell said in a post on its website.
 
Shel said the competing teams have been designing and building their vehicles for over a year now. — ELR, GMA News
