Businesswoman Decena: My attackers had 'Plans B, C'
Even if her attackers failed to silence her last August, businesswoman Cristina Decena insisted the masterminds of the slay try on her had prepared back-up plans to get back at her.
Decena on Wednesday told reporters that the brains behind the ambush, whom she identified as couple Manuel Dasig and Imelda of Dasman Residences, had planned a "Plan B" to pay off prosecutors in an earlier case she filed against them, and a "Plan C" to kill her children.
On Monday, Decena accompanied suspect PO1 Henry Quinones at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) headquarters in Manila to execute his sworn statement identifying the people behind the failed slay plot.
Decena said Quinones had pointed to the Dasig couple, who were her clients.
On Wednesday, Decena went to the Department of Justice to seek government protection for Quinones.
The Dasigs, through a statement from their legal counsel Rudolf Philip Jurado, had denied the accusations.
Decena said Quinones claimed the Dasigs paid him P500,000 to attack Decena. The suspect said he was supposed to have been paid additional money had they succeeded in killing the businesswoman.
Decena is the chief executive officer of Philippine Asian Decena Realty & Development Corporation, and the Dasigs are her client. She had earlier filed falsification and estafa charges against the two.
Decena also said Quinones revealed her best friend was also among those behind the attack on her.
Decena was with her maid and her son Danilo, who was driving their vehicle, during the ambush that occurred in broad daylight on August 14 last year. Only the maid was hurt due to the shattered glass from the window of their vehicle.
Quinones was arrested along with Edgardo Vinalla in a government-run hostel later that month, but both initially denied the allegations. — LBG, GMA News
