5 Metro Manila roads closed for Iglesia Ni Cristo Worldwide Walk

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority announced Friday that five Metro Manila roads will be closed to traffic on Saturday to make way for the Iglesia Ni Cristo's Christian Family Organization Worldwide Walk. In a post on its Twitter account, the MMDA said the five roads will be closed to traffic from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. To be closed to traffic are:

  • Northbound and southbound lanes of Roxas Boulevard from Buendia to Anda Circle
  • Eastbound and westbound lanes of P. Burgos from Palacio Street to Roxas Boulevard
  • Eastbound and westbound lanes of T.M. Kalaw from M.H. del Pilar to Roxas Boulevard
  • Westbound lane of President Quirino from Adriatico to Mabini and from M.H. del Pilar to Roxas Boulevard
  • Stretch of P. Ocampo from Mabini to Roxas Boulevard
The MMDA advised motorists take the following alternate routes:
  • Those from the northern part of Manila intending to pass the stretch of Roxas Boulevard southbound lane shall turn at Anda Circle, go straight to A. Soriano St. (Intramuros), right to Magallanes Drive, right to P. Burgos, then go straight to Taft Avenue, left turn to Pres. Quirino, right to Pres. Osmena to destination.
  • Those coming from the southern part of Manila intending to pass the stretch of Roxas Boulevard northbound lane shall turn right to Buendia, left to Taft Avenue to destination.
The MMDA also said a lane going in and one lane going out will be utilized using the stretch of Independence Road and Katigbak Drive via P. Burgos. The Iglesia Ni Cristo had explained that the Worldwide Walk was "for those affected by Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda)." — DVM, GMA News
