Cubao robbers make off with P2M in jewelry

Around four hammer-wielding robbers victimized a jewelry store in Cubao in Quezon City, Tuesday. According to a report on GMA 7's “Saksi”, the suspects barged into the First Allied Emporium Jewelry Inc. at the Farmer's Plaza Mall as soon as it opened at 10 a.m. The suspects smashed open the display cases with their hammers, and made off with around P2 million in jewelry. It was not a clean getaway, however, as security guards and a police officer shot at the suspects. Police Senior Superintendent Procopio Lipana said that they were checking nearby hospitals as a witness saw one of the suspects get shot. There have been several previous cases in which suspects used hammers to rob a jewelry store, with the December 2013 robbery meriting the personal attention of both President Benigno Aquino III and Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II. — DVM, GMA News
