A report on Tinig ng Plaridel, the official student publication of the UP College of Mass Communication, said 284 members of the University Council voted for the calendar shift, while 164 voted against it while eight abstained.
The UP System's Board of Regents, which previously approved the calendar shift of other constituent universities, will take up UP-Diliman's decision for finalization on Friday.
"The BOR [Board of Regents] meets on March 28. We will still push for rejection of calendar shift," Professor Danny Arao, one of the concerned UP faculty protesting the change, told GMA News Online through text.
In February, the BOR approved the change of academic schedule for the whole university system, except for the Diliman campus. If approved by the university's highest governing body, the shift applies to this coming academic year 2014-2015. — Roehl Niño Bautista / KBK, GMA News
