Motorcycle rider falls from flyover in Makati

(Updated 9 a.m.) Early morning traffic in a portion of Makati City was disrupted Friday after a motorcycle rider fell from a flyover along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said the rider fell from the southbound part of the EDSA Buendia flyover. It did not immediately name the rider.

In a post on its Twitter account, the MMDA said its rescue and traffic enforcers attended to the rider.

A separate report by radio dzBB said the driver was conscious but could not initially communicate with the responding teams.

The dzBB report said the accident disrupted traffic in the area.

An updated report by radio dzBB's Glen Juego said the driver, initially identified as Clark Macasaet, 29, faces the prospect of having part of his leg amputated.

The report cited findings by the MMDA's Road Emergency Group indicating Macasaet was heading for work at the Bonifacio Global City when the front wheel of his motorcycle hit a gutter at the flyover and went out of control.

Macasaet fell about 20 feet to the ground below and suffered broken ribs, though his head was protected by the helmet he was wearing. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
