Metro Manila sizzles at 36.4 degrees Celsius, hottest so far this year


Metro Manila sizzled at 36.4 degrees Celsius Thursday afternoon on the hottest day in the metropolis so far this year, PAGASA said.

PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said this was recorded at 3 p.m. at the Science Garden in Quezon City, radio dzBB's Rowena Salvacion reported.

Last Sunday, temperature at the Science Garden was recorded at 35.9 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, Tuguegarao City recorded an even higher temperature of 35.8 degrees Celsius on Thursday afternoon.

The hottest temperature in Metro Manila was recorded on May 14, 1987 at 38.5 degrees Celsius.

The hottest in the Philippines was recorded in Tuguegarao City at 42.2 degrees Celsius on May 11, 1969. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
