Meralco: Unscheduled power outages hit parts of NCR, Rizal


An emergency power outage hit parts of Metro Manila and Rizal province Wednesday afternoon, according to the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco).

Meralco said a power interruption occurred at 2:47 p.m. Wednesday and affected parts of Marikina as well as Rodriguez and San Mateo towns in Rizal.

In a post on its Twitter account, Meralco said the affected areas included:

Marikina City:
Barangays Barangka, Concepcion I, Jesus De La Peña, Nangka, Sto. Niño and Tañong

Rodriguez, Rizal:
Barangays Burgos, Manggahan, Mascap, San Isidro, San Jose, San Rafael

San Mateo, Rizal:
Barangays Ampid I, Dulong Bayan I & II, Guinayang, Guitnang Bayan I & II, Malanday, Maly and Sta. Ana

In an updated tweet, Meralco said the emergency power interruption was due to a wire down along A. Mabini Street corner Celina Street in Burgos, Montalban, Rizal.

Power was restored to some of these areas at 4:10 p.m., it added.

Quezon City brownout

Meanwhile, Meralco said another emergency power interruption occurred at 2:55 p.m., affecting parts of Quezon City.

It said this was due to a wire down along Bulacan Street corner EDSA. Power was restored to some of the areas at 4:22 p.m. — Joel Locsin/BM, GMA News
