Vhong Navarro unfazed by rape complaint filed by stuntwoman

The camp of TV-host actor Vhong Navarro is confident that the rape complaint filed against him by a stuntwoman will be junked by the court, a TV report said Friday.

According to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita, Navarro faced the complainant in court on Thursday during the preliminary investigation.

This is the third rape complaint filed against the TV host-actor, following those from model Deniece Cornejo and beauty contestant Roxanne Acosta Cabanero. Cornejo's complaint was junked by the Department of Justice in April for lack of improbable cause.

The Unang Balita report did not identify the victim, who refused to talk to reporters after the proceedings.

Navarro's legal counsel, lawyer Alma Mallonga, said the actor was "surprised" by the complaint, since "he thought they were friends," it added. The two met at the taping of a teleserye.

Another report from GMA News TV's Quick Response Team said the alleged incident happened in September 2009 inside a sports utility vehicle (SUV).

The case has been submitted for resolution.

Meanwhile, after Thursday's proceedings, Navarro was confronted by his alleged victims and their family members.

An angry Cabanero threw her sunglasses at the actor, but missed since he was surrounded with security. Cornejo's grandmother also shouted at Navarro, calling him a rapist.

Another family member of an alleged rape victim showed up at the hearing, wearing a shirt that said “Justice for rape victims, jail the serial rapist.”

Navarro made no comment on the allegations against him. —Rose-An Jessica Dioquino/KG, GMA News
