España Boulevard road-drainage improvement Stage 2 completed

The second stage of road and drainage improvements along España Boulevard in Manila has been completed, the Department of Public Works and Highways said over the weekend.

In a post on its website, the DPWH said this means the two middle lanes of España Boulevard from P. Campa Street to N. Reyes Street are now open to motorists.

"Motorists traveling southbound particularly (to) Quiapo area may now utilize the newly opened lanes," Singson said.

The road improvement seeks to mitigate flooding along España Blvd. in Sampaloc, Manila.

Flooding has been a problem along España, one of the busiest roads in Metro Manila.

According to the DPWH, it finished the second stage of the repair work last Wednesday.

Singson said the DPWH will now work on the third stage along southbound lanes from Adelina St. to P. Paredes.

He added these road sections with an area of 1,181.4 square meters will be closed alternately until July 14.

Earlier, the DPWH North Manila engineering district completed and opened to motorists the Stage 1 for the improvement of the northbound lanes of España Boulevard between P. Campa and N. Reyes Streets. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
