Thunderstorm causing heavy rain in NCR; Marikina River floodgate opened
Heavy rain fell on parts of Metro Manila Thursday morning, with state weather agency PAGASA saying this was due to a thunderstorm.
As of 8:50 a.m., GMA's I M Ready indicated heavy rain over Quezon City.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said some parts of Quezon City were flooded, radio dzBB reported.
Elsewhere in Quezon City, traffic was heavy near Camp Crame due to the rain, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.
Also in Quezon City, traffic was heavy along Commonwealth Avenue.
State-run Philippine Information Agency posted photos on its Twitter account showing "water buildup" at Visayas Avenue.

In Marikina City, one floodgate for the Marikina River was opened as of 8:55 a.m.
The Marikina City public information office said the river's water level as of 8:55 a.m. was at 13.7 meters, still below the first alarm level of 15 meters.
PAGASA said that as of 8:43 a.m., a thunderstorm was affecting a portion of Metro Manila, adding this may last for two hours.
