LTFRB imposes truck ban on NLEX, 2 major Luzon roads for INC Centennial

A three-day truck ban will be in effect from July 26 to 28 at a portion of the North Luzon Expressway and parts of two major Luzon roads for the Iglesia Ni Cristo's centennial celebration in Bulacan this weekend.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board said the ban applies to trucks for hire passing through NLEX between Balintawak Tollgate and Angeles City.

Other roads covered by the three-day ban include:

- MacArthur Highway
- Cagayan Valley Road from Sta. Rita Exit
- all provincial roads in Bulacan used as parking areas

The LTFRB said the ban is in view of the expected heavy volume of traffic "before, during and after" the celebration.

Exempted from the ban are trucks carrying perishable goods and food items.

Earlier, the NLEX advised motorists this weekend to brace for heavy traffic as some 82,000 vehicles are expected to ferry members of the religious group to the centennial celebration. — Joel Locsin/ELR, GMA News
