MMDA: Number coding lifted on Aug. 21, 25
The number coding scheme in Metro Manila will be lifted on Thursday for Ninoy Aquino Day, and on Monday for National Heroes' Day, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said Wednesday.
In an advisory on its Twitter account, the MMDA said the lifting of the number coding scheme also applies to Makati and Las Piñas City.

On Thursday, Filipinos will mark the martyrdom of former Sen. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., who was assassinated on Aug. 21, 1983.
The killing of Aquino, father of incumbent President Benigno Aquino III, triggered protests that led to the ouster of then President Ferdinand Marcos in the EDSA-1 revolt.
EDSA-1 also catapulted President Aquino's late mother, Corazon, to the presidency.
Meanwhile, the nation honors its heroes on Monday, a regular holiday.
The number coding scheme bars vehicles from Metro Manila's major thoroughfares depending on the last digits of the vehicles' plate numbers.
Covered on Monday are vehicles with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2, while those on Thursday are vehicles with plate numbers ending in 7 and 8. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
