Heavy rain brings floods to NCR, some roads impassable


Heavy rain brought floods to parts of Metro Manila on Monday evening, rendering some thoroughfares impassable to vehicles.

In Manila, radio dzBB's James Agustin reported the flood along España Boulevard, which underwent "improvement work" last May, was knee-high as of 7:45 p.m.


A photo posted by Agustin showed flood along España Boulevard near M. dela Fuente Street.

España and P. Noval have gutter- or knee-high flood, the University of Santo Tomas central student council said as of 9:19 p.m.




Elsewhere in Manila, dzBB's Cecilia Villarosa reported floods along Rizal Avenue and Taft Avenue.


Mandaluyong

In Mandaluyong City, the city government said Maysilo Circle was not passable to all vehicles as of 8:10 p.m.


As of 7:20 p.m., floods in parts of Mandaluyong including Maysilo Bumatay, Tanglaw, and Sikap-Code were waist-deep.


EDSA

As of 7:10 p.m., floods were gutter-deep at EDSA Orense northbound but passable to vehicles.


As of 7:18 p.m., floods were gutter-deep at EDSA Taft Ave northbound but passable to vehicles.


As of 7:29 p.m., floods were gutter-deep at EDSA Magallanes southbound, passable to vehicles.


Skyway

In southern Metro Manila, dzBB's Manny Vargas reported traffic at the Skyway ground level northbound stretched to Sales Bridge.


As of 8:07 p.m., floods at the stretch from Magallanes to EDSA northbound were half-tire deep. The northbound part is not passable to light vehicles.

As of 9:12 p.m., the northbound part at Buendia of Skyway is not passable.



Makati

In Makati City, Barangay South Cembo's Aguinaldo Street was not passable as of 7:49 p.m.

As of 7:35 p.m., Taylo St., E. Ramos St., Fernando St., M. Ocampo St., J. Victor St. in Brgy. Pio del Pilar were flooded but passable.

Other flooded areas included Malugay St. (11 inches), Kaong St. (8 inches), Mayapis (10 inches), Dongon St. (6 inches) in Brgy. San Antonio. —Joel Locsin/KBK, GMA News
