Enzo Pastor’s father believes arrested trader is the brains behind son’s killing
The father of slain international car racing champion Ferdinand "Enzo" Pastor has no doubts that the businessman arrested by the police is the mastermind in his son's killing.
“We truly believe the investigators sa kanilang conclusion na siya ang primary suspect,” Thomas Pastor told “Balitanghali” in an interview Wednesday.
Pastor, the first Filipino to participate in the NASCAR Whelen Euroseries Open Championship race circuit, was shot dead on June 12 at the corner of Visayas Avenue and Congressional Extension Avenue in Quezon City.
Thomas said his family was “very much surprised” about the development, even describing it as “a big turnaround” in the case.
Police identified the arrested businessman as Domingo de Guzman III, also a race car driver. He was arrested days after the police caught the suspected gunman, PO2 Edgar Angel, who named him as mastermind during the tactical interrogation that followed the arrest.
Thomas, who went to the Quezon City Police District headquarters in Camp Karingal early Wednesday morning upon learning of the arrest, said the family did not know De Guzman personally.
“Magkakilala yata sila ni Enzo, pero kami hindi pa namin nami-meet 'yon,” he said in the interview. “Nag-away yata sila niyan.”
In a separate report on GMA News TV's “News To Go,” Thomas said the killing of his son may have been connected to a love triangle.
“I think 'yung love triangle nga. Basahin ko lang 'yung statement. Nakapag-statement daw kagabi, so malalaman ko,” he said.
Authorities earlier said they were looking into the possibility that Pastor was involved in a love triangle that led to his death.
A separate report on Bombo Radyo said the businessman was having an affair with Pastor's wife. —Rose-An Jessica Dioquino/KBK, GMA News
