8 Manila road sections closed Sunday for Alay Lakad


Around eight road sections in Manila will be closed for the yearly Alay Lakad sa Kabataan on Sunday, September 7, the Manila Police District said.

In a traffic advisory, the Manila Police District said three road sections will be closed as early as 10 p.m. Saturday, with the five others closed at 4 a.m., Sunday.

To be closed and cleared of parked or abandoned vehicles Saturday night are:

  • Katigbak Drive
  • Independence Road
  • South Drive

To be closed at 4 a.m. Sunday are:

  • north and southbound lanes of Roxas Boulevard from Anda Circle to P. Ocampo
  • P. Burgos from Roxas Boulevard to Lagusnilad, east and westbound
  • T.M. Kalaw from Roxas Boulevard to M.H. del Pilar, east and westbound
  • Finance Road from P. Burgos to Taft Avenue, both lanes
  • Ma. Orosa from P. Burgos to T.M. Kalaw, north and southbound

Meanwhile, parking areas are designated at:

  • for VVVIPs at back of Quirino Grandstand
  • for military/police vehicles at Roxas Boulevard southbound from P. Faura to President Quirino
  • both sides of T.M. Kalaw from Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue
  • Service road of Roxas Boulevard from Kalaw to Pres. Quirino
  • P. Burgos from Ma. Orosa to Katigbak
  • for fire trucks and media vehicles at southbound part of Bonifacio Drive from Katigbak to 25th Street

Routes

Vehicles from southern part of Manila shall turn right to P. Ocampo, left Taft Avenue, or use Roxas Boulevard service road.

Public utility vehicles along A. Mabini Street shall turn right to Pedro Gil or go to T.M. Kalaw, left Taft Avenue to destination.

Vehicles from northern part of Manila from Del Pan Bridge or Pier zone may take A. Soriano, go to Magallanes Drive, right P. Burgos and Lagusnilad (Taft Avenue).

Vehicles from McArthur, Jones and Quezon Bridges may use Lagusnilad. Those heading for Intramuros can turn right to Victoria Street.

Cargo trucks at Osmena Highway may turn right at Pres. Quirino Avenue, straight to Nagtahan, AH Lacson, Yuseco Street, Jose Abad Santos, Raxabago, and Capulong.

Cargo trucks, trailers, vans and heavy vehicles from Road 10 about to cross Del Pan Bridge will be diverted to Capulong. — Joel Locsin/DVM, GMA
