No buildup on NLEX so far Monday morning

So far so good—there has been no repeat of Friday's traffic nightmare along the North Luzon Expressway, at least as of Monday morning.

As of 8:30 a.m. Monday, the NLEX website showed traffic light at all areas, including in the Balintawak area where traffic was nightmarish on Friday.

On Saturday, the Caloocan City government suspended a two-truck lane policy that had been blamed for last Friday's traffic nightmare.

The Caloocan City government, however, had maintained the new policy was not to blame for Friday's incident, which prompted many commuters to get off their vehicles and walk.

For its part, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority deployed additional personnel to A. Bonifacio Avenue in Balintawak, Quezon City to help manage traffic, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.

The MMDA also opened counter-flow lanes to help ease traffic. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
