A 60-foot-tall electric pole was uprooted along MIA Road in Parañaque on Monday and repairs will likely cause traffic in the area.

The pole was reportedly uprooted after a crane accidentally hit a telephone cable in a construction site along the road.

Witnesses said they heard a loud thud and later saw the electric pole leaning against railings on the side of the road.

Linemen from the Manila Electric Company began repairs at 6 p.m. and are expected to finish in two to three hours.

In the meantime, repairs are expected to cause heavy traffic on Airport Road, MIA Road, and Coastal Road.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes and those headed to Ninoy Aquino International Airport to catch flights should adjust their expected travel time to the airport. — Cesar Apolinario/JDS, GMA News
