Students at Caloocan high school to attend classes sitting on floor after wall collapse

For the next few days, students at a public high school in Caloocan City may have to put up with some inconveniences while attending classes, after a wall in their school building collapsed Monday.

The incident at the Baesa High School in Caloocan City occurred Monday morning, though no one was initially reported injured, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.

For Tuesday, many of them would have to attend classes sitting on the floor, the report added..

On Monday, the high school's administrators said they believe the wall's collapse could have been partly due to heavy rain from Tropical Storm Mario (Fung-Wong).

Mario had brought heavy rain to parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, last week. The storm left at least 12 people dead in its wake.

An earlier dzBB report on Monday quoted high school principal Nimfa David as saying some parts of the wall may have collapsed as early as Saturday.

The wall that collapsed had separated the Baesa High School and Baesa Elementary School.

An initial investigation showed it fell on the classroom of the first year high school students. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
