CCTV video leads to arrest of QC phone snatchers

With help from a security camera video, police were able to track down and arrest in Antipolo City two suspects who allegedly snatched a mobile phone from a Quezon City student last September 22, GMA news program “24 Oras” reported Monday.

The Philippine National Police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group head Director Benjamin Magalong identified the suspects as John Ralfh de Guzman and Gilbert Pazcoguin, who were arrested in Purok Silangan in Barangay dela Paz.

Recovered from the suspects was a Suzuki motorcycle (ZM-4752), which was believed used in the phone robbery.

Both were charged with robbery in relation to the Child Abuse Law.

The suspects are alleged to have snatched an iPhone from a Grade 9 student along Scout Lozano, near the corner Scout Tobias, in Barangay Laging Handa, Quezon City, while the student was chatting with three friends.

De Guzman is believed to have taken the phone, while Pazcoguin drove the motorcycle used in the getaway. — Joel Locsin/DVM, GMA News
