WATCH: Police bomb squad inspects ‘abandoned’ car in Sta. Mesa, Manila
Police on Friday cordoned off a black hatchback that has been abandoned in Manila's Sta. Mesa district since earlier this week.
The car, a black Ford Fiesta (WGQ-323), had been parked at the V. Mapa area since Oct. 6, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported.
It was cordoned off after passersby complained of an odor coming out of the vehicle, the report said.
Manila Police District probers have yet to get in touch with the car's registered owner, the report added.
As of past 11 a.m., a police bomb squad inspected the vehicle.
But while the police tried to open the car doors, they were wary it could contain an explosive.
Before noon, a video posted by dzBB's Vargas on Vine showed the police bomb squad managing to open the vehicle's doors.
Earlier this week, the United States Embassy advised its nationals in the Philippines to take precautions against a possible bomb plot following the arrest of three suspected bombers in Metro Manila.
Meanwhile, at least two bomb threats have disrupted classes in two schools in Manila and Quezon City earlier this week. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
