Counterflow in some parts of SLEX as post-Undas traffic remains heavy


Counterflow was allowed in some parts of the South Luzon Expressway late Sunday as Filipinos who spent Undas (All Saints' and All Souls' Days) in the provinces returned to Metro Manila.

The Toll Regulatory Board said the counter-flow lane was opened and ambulant teller were deployed at the Manila-bound part of Ayala Toll Plaza.

It said these measures, in place as of 6:53 p.m., aimed to ensure smooth flow of vehicles

At the North Luzon Expressway, traffic was heavy at the Bocaue Barrier as of 6:05 p.m., with motorists advised to take Bocaue southbound exit and re-enter via Bocaue Toll Plaza southbound

The NLEX real-time map as of 7:24 p.m. indicated traffic was heavy at the Manila-bound part of San Fernando, and moderate to heavy at Puilan and San Simon.

Meanwhile, at the STAR Tollway, the Sto. Tomas plaza northbound saw a traffic queue as long as 200 meters as of 7:21 p.m.

Traffic began to grow heavy on highways leading to Metro Manila as early as Sunday noon. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
