Abandoned bag causes bomb scare in busy Manila street

 

A bag abandoned at a trash bin in front of a convenience store caused a bomb scare in a busy part of Manila Tuesday morning.

 

Police briefly closed off the corner of Pedro Gil and Agoncillo Streets to traffic at about 10 a.m., GMA News' Emil Sumangil reported on GMA News TV's "Balitanghali."

 

Witnesses said the way the bag was placed on the trash bin suggested it could have been placed deliberately.

 

A female jeep barker sought help from police, who cordoned off the area.

 

The Manila Police District's Explosives and Ordnance Division went to the area and, after assessing the situation, approached the bag and examined it.

 

The bag turned out to contain clothes.
