Man faints as excitement for Pope arrival continues to heat up

As excitement continued to heat up Thursday in the hours leading to Pope Francis' arrival in the Philippines, a man waiting outside the Apostolic Nunciature in Manila fainted amid the midday heat.

The man was described as in his 20s or 30s, according to a report by radio dzBB's Glen Juego.

The dzBB report said the man was among several Filipinos waiting for the pope to arrive at the Nunciature at the corner of Quirino Avenue and Taft Avenue.

Pope Francis is due to arrive at 5:45 p.m. at Villamor Airbase, then head for the Nunciature.

During his five-day visit, he is expected to take part in activities in Metro Manila and Leyte. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
