Motorist hits MMDA constable at Ortigas
A motorist was taken into custody on Thursday morning after hitting a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority constable at the corner of EDSA and Ortigas Avenue.
MMDA Metrobase's Charlie Nozares, in an interview on dzBB radio, cited initial information identifying the injured constable as Joseph Alejo.
"Nabangga siya ng Subaru sa Ortigas corner EDSA, in front of Robinsons eastbound," he told dzBB's Arnold Clavio and Ali Sotto.
He said traffic constables had taken custody of the Subaru's driver.
But when asked if the motorist deliberately hit Alejo, he said they were not sure at this time.
"Nakita ito nakahiga, ang actual pagkabangga not caught on camera," he said.
When asked about Alejo's condition, Nozares said he was conscious. "Nakakausap naman," he said.
Alejo has been taken to a hospital for treatment, he said.
Last December, constable Sonny Acosta was victimized in a hit-and-run incident in Cubao, Quezon City.
Acosta died from his injuries even as the driver of the sport-utility vehicle that hit him was charged. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
