Baclaran devotees dedicate Mass to Fallen 44
Many devotees of Our Mother of Perpetual Help on Wednesday included in their prayers and intentions the 44 Special Action Force police troopers killed in a clash in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last Jan. 25.
Several who attended the first Mass at the Redemptorist Church in Baclaran said they prayed for the 44, GMA News' Dante Perello reported on Unang Balita.
Devotees believe offering a novena would bring blessings or have one's wishes granted.
The Baclaran Church had its first Mass at 5:30 a.m., with most of those attending going to work or school afterward.
At present, the bloody Mamasapano clash is being separately investigated by Congress, the Department of Jusitce, the MILF, the International Monitoring Team, the Commission on Human Rights and the Board of Inquiry.
There is also a pending bill calling for the creation of a Truth Commission to look into the matter. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
