Manila public elementary school fire razes P35M in property
Around P35 million in property was destroyed in a fire that broke out at Manila's Gregorio del Pilar Elementary School Tuesday night, radio dzBB reported.
The fire reached Task Force Delta and was put out at 2 a.m. Some three school buildings were razed, including the Center for Excellence.
With student records possibly destroyed in the fire, school officials were coordinating with the Department of Education over how the records would be reconstructed.
The Bureau of Fire Protection believes an electrical short circuit at the school canteen caused the fire.
Meanwhile, a second fire broke out on Maria Guerrero Street in Manila. This fire reached the second alarm.
A third fire in Bagong Silang, Caloocan broke out early Wednesday, with damage estimated at P1 million. — Joel Locsin/DVM, GMA News
