Parola, Tondo fire out after 12 hours, residents return to homes
After some 12 hours, a fire that devastated a residential area at Parola Compound in Manila's Tondo district was finally put out early Tuesday.
Manila Disaster and Risk Reduction office head Johnny Yu told radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo the fire, which had reached the general alarm, was out as of 7:30 a.m.
Volunteer firefighter group TXTFire said the fire was out as early as 7:01 a.m. The fire started shortly after 6 p.m. Monday.
No one was reported hurt in the fire, dzBB's Mateo reported.
On Tuesday morning, residents returned to the area following the fire, as shown in a photo tweeted by GMA News' Hadji Rieta.

A separate report by dzBB's Manny Vargas said some residents tried to salvage parts of their houses while others tried to get electric and phone wires to sell to junk shops.
Following the fire, Manila Vice Mayor Francisco Domagoso a.k.a. Isko Moreno asked the Manila Electric Co. to inspect the power lines in Tondo communities.
