Family cries newborn was kidnapped, clinic owner says they're lying

A newborn was allegedly kidnapped from a lying-in clinic in Quezon City, GMA News' "24 Oras" reported on Monday.

The owner of the hospital, however, said that the family could only be trying to avoid having to pay their bill.

CCTV footage showed that a woman wearing a blue blouse and brown pants entering their room at the Dr. Montano Ramos General Hospital in Quezon City at 6:31 a.m. on Sunday.

She was seen leaving the room at 6:40 a.m. with the same bulky bag that she had with her when she went in earlier.

"Ni hindi ko pa siya nakakarga. Hindi ko pa napapadede kasi mahina pa ko. Nagagalit pa sila sa 'min, ba't kami nagtiwala. Bakit kami tatanga-tanga. Di ko naman alam na magkakaganun," the mother of the baby boy, Glenda Salvador said.

The woman allegedly passed herself off as a doctor and told the baby's grandmother that the baby's heartbeat needed to be checked.

She was described as 5'0'' to 5'1'' in height, medium built, around 28 to 30 years old and fair-complexioned.

Dr. Montano Ramos, the owner of the clinic, was not impressed.

"Definitely, intensiyon nila, gusto nila mag-abscond.... Kasi 'pag nawalan ka ng bata, hysterical. 'Di naman ganun. Sila, relaxed lang. Wala silang pambayad, kaya gumigimik lang," Ramos said.

Police withheld comment on the report, saying the matter was under investigation. —NB, GMA News
