300 of Metro Manila’s most wanted criminals nabbed in 7 months – PNP report
Half of the most-wanted criminals in Metro Manila have been arrested over the past seven months, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
In a report released on Thursday the PNP said that as of March 17, a total of 299 or almost half of the 603 criminals included in the National Capital Region Police Office’s (NCRPO) “Most Wanted Persons” list have been nabbed since Agust 13, 2014.
The PNP said 17 of the most wanted criminals were arrested in separate weeklong police operations from March 11 to 17, 2015 carried out by the five Police Districts of NCRPO.
The PNP attributed the NCRPO’s improved man-hunt operations to “Oplan Lambat-Sibat” launched in Agust last year.
“Oplan Lambat-Sibat” is a comprehensive anti-crime strategy which involves intensified man-hunt operations, law-enforcement operations, and crack-down of loose firearms and organized crime groups.
“Oplan Lambat-Sibat campaign is a fusion of different anti-criminality operations like checkpoints, mobile and foot patrols, Oplan Galugad, Oplan Bakal, Oplan Paglalansag Omega, etcetera,” the PNP said.
Interior Secretary Mar Roxas has earlier bared plans to cascade the Lambat-Sibat campaign to different Police regional offices if it will be proven effective in the Metro Manila. — Elizabeth Marcelo/JDS, GMA News
