MIAA says travelers flying out of NAIA 1 should eat ahead elsewhere. Here's why

Passengers with flights to catch at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 may have to eat up before heading for the airport because renovation work has limited dining options at the airport.

"For those with flights in NAIA Terminal 1, we have scarcity of dining outlets at the moment at the pre check-in and check-in halls due to the ongoing rehabilation of the Terminal. Bigger dining outlets can be found only after immigrations," the Manila International Airport Authority said.

Because of this, it advised passengers, before heading for the airport, "to take something that will tide you over until the immigrations process."

"We seek your understanding on this," it said.

This was one of the MIAA 10 travel tips for the Holy Week exodus, where Filipinos are expected to head abroad or to the provinces to spend Holy Week with loved ones.

Other tips listed by the MIAA include:

1. Call your airline or travel agency to confirm your flight.
2. Know which NAIA terminal you need to go to for your flight.
3. Know what items are prohibited on board the aircraft. Visit the Office for Tansportation Security website at www.ots.gov.ph for the list.
4. Know limitations on the carriage of Liquid, Aerosol and Gel (LAGS) for handcarry.
5. Know your airline's weight limit for check-in baggage and hand-carry items.
6. Travel light to avoid the inconvenience of unpacking because of excess baggage.
7. Senior citzens who need assistance should make prior arrangements with airlines or travel agencies for whelchair use.
8. Those traveling with children should bring things that the children will need in their handcarried luggage
9. Be at the airport early so as not to miss your flight. Anticipate traffic within the airport complex given the magnitude of ongoing construction works for the NAIA Expressway Project. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
