Metro Manila crime-free during Pacquiao-Mayweather fight – PNP

Metro Manila was crime-free on Sunday as most of the Philippines watched the boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. in Las Vegas, the Philippine National Police said.

According to the PNP Public Information Office, there were no "major untoward incidents" in the National Capital Region between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Two separate shooting incidents were reported in the provinces, however.

A certain Ronnel Villarosa was shot dead by an unknown gunman in Tanauan City in Batangas on Sunday morning and Julia Isagon Dela Peña of Sta. Cruz, Laguna was hit by a stray bullet at around the same time, police said.

"Other regions reported normal situation," the PNP also said.

The PNP PIO said Friday that there are usually fewer crimes during Pacquiao fights as most people are glued to their television sets. — JDS, GMA News
