Japanese national stabbed to death in Manila hotel room

The Manila Police District Homicide Division has leads on the suspect who stabbed and killed 28-year-old Japanese national Tomoyuki Takasugi inside his Bayview Mansion room last Sunday.

A source told GMA News on Monday that the suspect, who was last seen with the victim on CCTV footage, was a part-time maintenance worker at a Malate bar where the victim was employed as a money collector.

The source added that the suspect's fellow bar workers noticed that the suspect looked troubled, and was often seen with the victim the past days.

Meanwhile, the suspect's wife disclosed that her husband went home last Saturday evening, but left immediately after a change of clothes.

Investigators believed that theft was one motive for the killing, given that the victim's hotel-room safe was open and part of P800,000 in cash was missing
