LOOK: ‘Recto University’ comes to life again

One week before the new school year starts, the so-called "Recto University" in Manila's university belt has sprung back to life.

Photos posted by radio dzBB's Manny Vargas showed makers of fake documents and school records displaying their wares in downtown Manila.

C.M. Recto Street in Manila has been known as the "center of trade" for fake diplomas, birth certificates and other public documents.

One photo even showed a vendor displaying fake documents in front of a police patrol unit.

Aside from school records, some vendors there also offer to make documents such as diplomas of some universities, with dry seal.

In June 2014, Manila authorities cracked down on the "Recto University" with Mayor Joseph Estrada scolding vendors caught selling such documents. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
