Boom of crane breaks in Cubao construction site
(Updated 3:28 a.m., May 30, 2015) A piece of heavy steel is feared to fall from a considerable height in Cubao, Quezon City after the boom of crane broke at a construction site near the northbound lane of EDSA.
A report on GMA News TV's Quick Response Team said workers were tying the broken part to the rest of the boom to prevent it from falling off.
Authorities have yet to respond, the report said as of late afternoon.
The report added that no one was hurt in the incident.
However, according to a Friday evening report on GMA 7 news program “Saksi”, the real estate company that owns the Cubao high-rise project, Vivaldi Residences, denied that the boom crane had snapped, and neither was there any danger of the crane crashing down on the street.
Rather, the boom crane was no longer needed for the project and it was merely being taken apart.
Nevertheless, the pedestrian walkway beneath the highrise project had been cordoned off as a precaution. — Amanda Fernandez/NB/DVM, GMA News
