3 suspects attempt sale of Angeline Quinto's SUV using fake documents
National Bureau of Investigation-NCR agents on Tuesday arrested three suspects who were attempting to sell singer-actress Angeline Quinto's 2014 Toyota Prado using faked documents, GMA 7 news program “24 Oras” reported.
According to the NBI investigation, Quinto, who was still making payments on the car, had planned to return the car to the dealership she bought it from.
However, a sales agent had offered to buy the car from Quinto, and the they entered an “open deed of sale” agreement.
But the agent then used the car to cover gambling debts with a casino financier.
The suspects were thus trying to sell the car with faked documents which claimed that the vehicle had no “encumbrance” or payments left at the bank.
"Yung vinerify natin yung certificate of registration, at tsaka original receipt nung ibinibentang Land Cruiser, hindi naman ito totoo," said NBI-NCR Regional Director Atty. Max Salvador.
Salvador explained that what the suspects had attempted was what was known as "talon" – a scam that was lately becoming commonplace.
"Huwag padalos-dalos. Hindi basta kumakagat kung sasabihing mura yung sasakyan," Salvador warned.
