Iglesia ni Cristo leadership mum on libel complaint vs. ex-Pasugo editor
The leadership of Iglesia ni Cristo remains mum about a libel complaint filed under its name against Isaias Samson Jr., one of its former ministers and editor of "Pasugo," the religious group's official publication.
A News To Go report on Wednesday quoted the church's spokesman, Edwil Zabala, as saying that the leadership has not issued a statement on the matter.
In an earlier interview with GMA News Online after the case was filed last Friday, Zabala said he was not aware of such complaint being filed against Samson.
The report quoted the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office as saying that the complaint was filed by Iglesia ni Cristo, represented by its general auditor Glicerio Santos Jr.
It will be up for raffle within the week, the report added.
Samson, along with his family, was expelled from the Iglesia ni Cristo for his refusal to submit to the authority of the church.
The former minister claimed he was illegally detained by the church's Sanggunian, and also accused Santos of being involved in corruption. —Rose-An Jessica Dioquino/KBK, GMA News
