NBI nabs 4 suspects for selling cars with fake registration papers
The National Bureau of Investigation arrested four suspects in Manila who allegedly sells brand new cars at a low price immediately after they have paid for its down payment, a report from GMA's “24 Oras” said Friday.
The NBI's Anti-Cyber Crime Division apprehended the suspects in a sting operation at Roxas Blvd. where they were selling an SUV for only P1 million.
According to the NBI, the group would pay car dealers the downpayment for the vehicles, then resell the SUVs to their victims.

“Gagawa sila ng fraudulent na certificate of registration na wala na 'yung encumbered, mabebenta nila ito ng mahal. Ibig sabihin fully paid na yung unit,” NBI Special Investigator III Glen Lacaran said.
One of the suspects admitted to the crime saying that he already sold 12 vehicles but in his defense said he was not aware that they were doing something illegal.
One of the group's victims said he regretted falling for the supposed bargain which he thought was too good to be true.
“Kanina naawa sana ako sa kanila pero mas naawa ako sa sarili ko. At tsaka 'yung halaga na yun hindi ganoon kadali yun kinita. Babayaran pa namin yun,” the victim said.
The suspects are facing multiple charges including estafa through falsification of public documents and violation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act. — Andrei Medina/JDS, GMA News
