Maynilad explains low water pressure coming from customers’ faucets

Water supply may have been back in several areas affected by the two-day service disruption in Metro Manila, but Maynilad Water Services Inc.'s customers on Wednesday complained about the low water pressure coming from their faucets.

Customers also hit Maynilad's failure to follow the scheduled supply restoration that was set on Wednesday.

In a report on "Unang Hirit" on Thursday Maynilad explained that they are still using the old, small pipes, and that by Friday they will begin using the new, bigger pipes expected to deliver better service to their customers.

Maynilad media relations officer Grace Laxa on Thursday said residents are getting new water pipes that are different from the old ones.

"Expect po natin na hindi iyan katulad ng dati iyong kinukuha nila ngayon. Ito po ay pwedeng mahina ang supply at ang pressure kasi mas maliit na linya po ng tubo ang pinanggagalingan ng tubig nila ngayon," she said.

Also, Maynilad said the scheduled water service interruption slated August 17 and 18 in several areas in Cavite province may not push through as the company's pipe realignment project is already 60-percent done.

Households, small businesses, hospitals and even schools were affected by the service disruption that started on Monday afternoon, August 10, and expected to last until early morning Wednesday, August 12 in Metro Manila.

Several towns in Cavite, including Rosario, Imus, Noveleta, Cavite City, Kawit, and Bacoor, were supposed to be affected by the rotating water service interruption. — LBG, GMA News
