100 families evacuated after 8 houses along Marikina river collapse

At least 100 families were evacuated in Barangay Nangka in Marikina City, after eight houses collapsed on Sunday.

A report on News To Go on Monday said no one was hurt in the incident, but the police's Technical Motorcycle Rider unit has been deployed to watch over the situation.

Some residents are currently staying at the Nangka Elementary School and at the barangay hall. Others, however, preferred to keep watch at their houses.

The eight houses along Mirasol Street, built near the Nangka River, consecutively collapsed since Sunday night. One of the houses was completely damaged.

Residents told GMA News that heavy rains may have softened the land were the houses stood, althought they've previously noticed cracks on their floors.
