Sta. Ana, Manila residents to oppose events place, privatization of market
Residents of Sta. Ana, Manila are set to protest the construction of an events place that will be built there.
A tweet from radio dzBB on Friday said the establishment would be a cockpit.
In a separate interview over dzBB, Fr. Wilfredo Benito, parish priest of Sta. Ana Church, said they doubt that the construction will only be for an "events place," which will be put near a school, the church, and a hospital.
"Sumulat po kami sa isa sa konsehal ng lungsod. Pinapapaliwanag po namin kung ano po ang gagawin dito," he said.

Meanwhile, vendors at the Sta. Ana public market are set to hold a noise barrage Friday to oppose its privatization.
The Sta. Ana Market is among the 17 public markets in Manila set to be renovated by virtue of City Ordinance 8346, passed by the City Council on May 13, 2014.
It was among the seven public markets offered to private parties.
Last month, a group of market vendors filed a graft complaint against former President and incumbent Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada and several other officials over the allegedly anomalous privatization of Quinta Market, also among the seven markets. —Rose-An Jessica Dioquino/KG, GMA News
