Catholics flock to Baclaran Church for Mama Mary’s birthday
(Updated 11:58 a.m.) Catholic devotees flocked early to Baclaran Church on Tuesday morning to celebrate the birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a report on Unang Balita said.
Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle officiated the Mass at 6:30 a.m. participated in by many devotees.
He also blessed the new Carillon Bell Tower of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Shrine, a report on News To Go said.
The Baclaran Church is also known as the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help and Redemptorist Church.
Outside the church, it was business as usual as vendors continued selling their goods.
Police were on standby around the church for peace and order.
