Erap stops punch before hitting robbery-slay suspect in Manila

Manila Mayor Joseph "Erap" Estrada nearly punched a robbery suspect while the latter was being presented to the media on Wednesday.

GMA News' "24 Oras" showed Richard Pring flinching back as Estrada stopped his fist before hitting the suspect.

Pring was caught by Manila police after he allegedly robbed and killed a student by stabbing him five times near the Quezon Bridge in Quiapo on Tuesday.

Upon being presented with the knife Pring allegedly used to stab the student, Estrada also thrust the knife towards the suspect, who promptly jumped back from the mayor.

"Maraming ganyan ngayon eh. Mag-iingat dun sa mga- lalo na sa mga jeep na pampasahero na nag-iisa lang sila. They should avoid that," Estrada said. —Rie Takumi/NB, GMA News
