Residents rescue tanod, beat up his two attackers in Manila

Two men were beaten by residents of Barangay 525, Zone 52 in Manila after they dragged a barangay tanod out of a resto bar last night.

According to 24 Oras on Thursday, the two men took Barangay Tanod Rey Reyes out of the establishment after he reprimanded the pair for their rowdiness.

"Pag-responde ko, 'di pa naman ako kumikibo, ako na kagad ang nakita kaya nangyari yung bugbugan na rambol. Sinugod ako," Reyes said.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras caught them beating up Reyes until a group of men and a lone woman came to the tanod's rescue. Some were armed with sticks to beat the men until more watchmen came to break up the fight.

None of the men involved in the scuffle decided to press charges.

Kagawad Jorge Sumampong still reminded revelers to moderate their drinking to avoid unnecessary scuffles.

"'Pag halimbawang alam nilang nararamdaman na nila yung lasing, magtira naman ng kotning pang-uwi," Sumampong said. —NB, GMA News
