Arsonist roaming Quezon City streets; bystanders just watch store burn

Security personnel of Barangay Villa Maria Clara in Quezon City are on the alert for a man who set fire to a store and tried to set a house on fire late last month.

 

Closed-circuit television video (CCTV) footage dated September 20, 2015 but aired Wednesday, October 14 on GMA newscasts, showed an unidentified man who tried to ignite some possibly flammable item on the roof of a dwelling on Tecson Alley in Barangay Villa Maria Clara.

 

Security CCTV showed the same suspect start a fire at a small store along Rajah Matanda street in the same barangay.

 

The suspect was not arrested and is still at large.


 

 

But the arsonist's roaming in Quezon City is not the only thing that troubled officials in Barangay Villa Maria Clara.

 

Kagawad Danny Mojica said the CCTV footage showed that some of their residents who saw the fire at the store just stood there and did nothing.

 

Mojica said residents should be concerned about their neighbors, act when needed and not just be bystanders.  — ELR, GMA News
