MMDA: Quezon Avenue-EDSA intersection now open
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Sunday announced that the Quezon Avenue-EDSA intersection is already open.
MMDA's assistant general manager for operations Emerson Carlos announced on radio dzBB that traffic signals have been installed on the intersection.
"Ang Quezon Avenue-EDSA intersection bukas na po. From [Quezon City] Circle, Quezon Avenue, hindi ka na magyu-U turn. Puwede ka nang kumaliwa," Carlos said.
Southbound vehicles coming from Quezon Avenue turning left to EDSA and northbound vehicles (heading toward Trinoma and SM North areas) coming from Quezon Avenue turning left to EDSA can now use the intersection.
Carlos, meanwhile, clarified that vehicles on Quezon Avenue going to Quezon City Circle or Manila will not be allowed to use the intersection.
These vehicles should pass through the Quezon Avenue tunnel, he said.
The plan to reopen to intersection came up is part of the government's efforts to ease traffic on EDSA.
The Philippine National Police's Highway Patrol Group has been tasked to strictly enforce traffic rules on the main thoroughfare. —ALG, GMA News
