One of the two men aboard was identified as Wesley Cua, a 19-year-old resident of Binondo, Manila, the MMDA Rescue Group told GMA News Online.
Driver not drunk
A report by GMA News' Steve Dailisan on 24 Oras on Tuesday night quoted Cua as saying that he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Cua was also quoted as saying that the accident happened when he tried to avoid another car.
"Maluwag ang EDSA kanina, so medyo mabilis ang takbo ko. Tapos biglang lumabas 'yun [isang kotse] sa second lane, pag-apak ko sa preno... 'di ko alam kung loose brake siya or ano. Pero naalala ko lang dumiretso na talaga siya," he said.
SPO2 Richard Bumacas of the Mandaluyong Traffic Sector confirmed that Cua was not drunk during the incident.
"Hindi naman nakainom, para sabihin sana natin na huwag nang uminom. Talagang aksidente talaga," he said.

The two passengers of the car were then taken to The Medical City.
A car on the opposite lane was hit by flying debris.
"I was reading the news on my phone when all of a sudden I heard a big bang and saw debris flying to my direction and hitting my car," said Sam Ortiz, whose car was on the emergency bay of the southbound lane at the time of the incident.
In his report, Dailisan said Cua has expressed readiness in addressing the matter. — Keith Richard D. Mariano/RSJ/KBK, GMA News
