Thieves used my name, photo for AlDub ticket scam, teen says

The suspect in a complaint by "AlDub" fan Syrril Guevarra has surfaced, claiming his name and pictures were also used to trick fans of the phenomenal love team into buying tickets from a fake account.

In a report from GMA's “24 Oras” on Tuesday, 17-year-old “JP” said he was also a victim who unknowingly had his personal information used against him online.

“Para naman po malinis 'yung name ko kasi sa akin po yung parang binibintang na scammer daw po. Kahit ako fan po ako ng AlDub nakakapanood din ako pero wala akong ginagawa na dahil lang po sa Facebook bakit po nagka ganoon,” he said.

His mother, who said her son was greatly affected by the issue, said they already went to Barangay Tatalon in Quezon City to lodge a complaint.

In the report, Barangay Tatalon Captain Rodel Lobo vouched for the suspect turned victim.

“Kasi ho itong batang ito wala talaga siyang, no derogatory record during my term as Barangay Captain,” he said.

Meanwhile, Guevarra who managed to evade buying fake tickets welcomed JP's move.

“Parehas man tayong biktima, sana kung sino man 'yung nasa likod nito tumigil na. Tsaka wala na rin naman, tapos na rin naman 'yung concert ng 'Sa Tamang Panahon.' Kung hindi man ikaw yun pasensiya pero parehas tayong biktima,” she said.

The issue stemmed from identity theft complaints against unidentified Facebook users who were using fake accounts to scam fans to buy their tickets for last Saturday's 'Sa Tamang Panahon' concert which garnered massive record breaking feats particularly on Twitter. —Andrei Medina/JST, GMA News
