MMDA offers free Pasig ferry boat rides Nov. 6

(Updated 9:51 a.m.) The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced the public can avail of free boat rides on the Pasig River Ferry on Friday, Nov. 6, the 40th founding anniversary of the agency.

The free boat rides will be offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. from any of the ferry service's 11 stations: Pinagbuhatan, and San Joaquin in Pasig City; Guadalupe and Valenzuela in Makati City; Hulo in Mandaluyong City; PUP Sta. Mesa, Sta. Ana, Lambingan, Lawton, Escolta, and Plaza Mexico all in Manila.

The agency said the free boat rides is their way of giving back to the public for their support.

"This will also attract more commuters to patronize the ferry boat service along the historical Pasig River, especially with current concerns about vehicular traffic along EDSA. The ferry boat service is a convenient and fast alternative mode of transport for those going to Manila City from eastern Metro Manila," MMDA chair Emerson Carlos said.

Two new boats will also be launched on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. to bring the total number of boats to 11.

Boats arrive every 30 minutes at the stations to pick up and unload passengers. —KG, GMA News
